The Ideas From Europe Podcast

We are thrilled to announce that we are launching the Ideas From Europe Podcast, where ideas take flight. Ideas from Europe is a knowledge-based inspirational platform for impact entrepreneurs to scale-up their innovations. In this podcast, we will feature interviews with inspiring individuals and impact entrepreneurs; spotlight crucial innovation topics and impactful solutions that aim to make a difference.

In this first episode, Rita Prota (SDGs Programme Manager at the Sustainable Scale-Up Foundation, the non-commercial organisation that brings you Ideas From Europe) interviews Ahmed Khalil, impact entrepreneur, founder and CEO of Ascenscia, an app that is helping revolutionise scientific research. Tune in as they discuss how lab digitisation can automate data collection in scientific labs; the impact on work flows and data integrity; and the potential of lab digitisation on scientific research.

Ahmed Khalil’s background in pharmaceutical sciences and innovations led him to a revelation about the persistent use of traditional paper documentation in scientific labs. Recognizing the pivotal role of proper data documentation in scientific progress, he founded Ascenscia, a mobile application designed to revolutionise lab workflows.

In a candid interview, Ahmed shares his inspiration behind Ascenscia. The "aha" moment occurred when a scientist, struggling to manage multitasking in the lab, expressed a wish for a personal assistant to transcribe spoken notes. This led to the creation of Ascenscia, a voice-activated tool that serves as a mediator between scientists and electronic lab notebooks.

Ascenscia functions seamlessly on mobile devices, allowing scientists to dictate notes, perform calculations, and set timers through voice commands. This eliminates interruptions in their workflow, enabling them to stay focused while Ascenscia takes care of the documentation.

Crucially, Ascenscia prioritises data safety. Acting as a conduit between scientists and electronic lab notebooks, it processes voice-to-text and text-to-voice without storing any data. This innovative solution enhances efficiency in scientific labs by providing a hands-free, voice-activated assistant, ensuring accurate and streamlined data documentation without compromising data security.

If this piques your interest and you want to learn more about lab digitisation and Ascenscia,, listen to Ahmed explain all of this in depth in the first episode of the Ideas From Europe podcast. It is now available on Spotify and soon coming to more platforms. Tune in and share to join Ideas From Europe, the platform for impactful innovation.
